Built in the late eighteenth Century, Banjo is the quintessential Cornish granite cottage. It has welcomed many guests in its lifetime - human and animal alike. Its former incarnation was a humble cowshed!
Banjo Cottage has been a much-loved holiday home since the late 1960s, with guests returning year after year. In fact, before I bought the cottage in 2015, I’d stayed in it several times as a guest myself. It really is a home from home, in the beautiful wilds of what I call ‘The ‘Magic Lands’.
The cottage is blessed to have a surprisingly large and sheltered garden with a secluded walled area and one of the only trees in central St Just! The perfect place for enjoying the sun throughout the day (perhaps with a classic Cornish cream tea)!
'What a wonderful little cottage lies behind the Banjo door. Our favourite after many visits to West Cornwall.'
The front door of the cottage opens directly into the main living area, with the sitting room to the right comprising a large L-shaped sofa, coffee table and a granite inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. Logs are supplied with matches and firelighters.
There is a cosy seating alcove to the left of the fireplace, ideal for a quiet read.
To the right of the fireplace there is a television and DVD player with a selection of films.
The dining area is to your left of the front door and part of the open plan living area.
The dining table comfortably sits four people and a child's high chair can be made available if required.
The kitchen & bathroom are accessed through an archway from the sitting room.
The kitchen is well equipped, with an electric oven, induction hob, a large fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine, tumble dryer and a NutriBullet (blender).
There is plenty of crockery and cutlery, and cooking / kitchen utensils. Put simply, there’s everything you need to make a roast dinner!
Washing-up liquid and tea towels are also provided.
The bathroom is spacious with a big bath, a powerful standalone shower, heated towel rail and toilet.
Stairs from the dining area of the open plan living area lead to the first floor with two bedrooms.
There is a large master bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and a built-in wardrobe.
The second bedroom has twin beds with a free-standing wardrobe.
Bath and hand towels are provided.
The South-facing walled garden at the rear of the cottage is both secluded and sheltered.
From the rear door, there is a patio with a bench table. This area leads to a large lawned area with chairs and garden table.
If you have a dog, this is an ideal space as it provides complete security.
There is no private parking but there is plenty of parking either right outside Banjo Cottage or on Cape Cornwall Street.
On your arrival at Banjo Cottage, your beds will be made up with freshly laundered sheets and pillowcases, along with bath and hand towels.
The wood burner will be prepared for a nice fire if you’d like one.
